Our Rig Build Up

For all you adventurers (budding and active) here’s our rig build up.  After much research for our trip I found myself being drawn into the world of forums on camping, 4WD and traveling. I found out that it is customary to give a detailed rundown of your traveling setup,  aka the Rig Build Up.   So…..

Jake and the tug !

Tow Vehicle (Tug)…….Prado 150 D4D, Cooper AT3s,  EC nudge bar, Bushranger Nighthawk driving lights, GME 3100UHF, Firestone rear airbags, 100A Aux battery with Pirahna mgt system, Redarc Brake controller, Anderson plug,  Rhino Alloy roof tray and a set of home made drawers in the rear.

Camper (Jake)…….Jayco Eagle Outback, Getaway awnings and bag ends, 100Ahr Deep cycle Battery, extra water tank (160l total) Pole Carrier, Bike rack on A frame, extra gas bottle.

Not the full monty but certainly comfortable enough to keep us out of harms way and live in style in the bush !

The Travel to the Cold Ghost (Gold Coast)

Today, we are traveling to the cold ghost Gold Coast(what an awesome name) where we will be going to da worlds.

We started with a luurvley bike ride along the river at Stanthorpe before we set off.

Bike riding at Stanthorpe.

We stopped (after the bike ride and and a bit of a drive) at Warwick  for some food (the service was waaaaaaay too slow)It was rather nice(I could have made a better hot chocolate at home) and the chips were good .

We travelled along the Cunningham highway and we are going so fast at the speed of… zero mph yep. There were roadworks. But luckily, we have a nifty device that let’s us listen in on other people’s conversations if there using a walky-talky. Ah one guy stuck in traffic with us thinks the road workers should be selling coffee.

I just saw another tractor !  How sick are tractors.

Today I was reading my top gear magazine in the car (the one with the 2 really cool ford interceptors on it’s cover).

"Look mummy that ford has wheel blades"

I was looking at an article with 7 Chinese men with sledgehammers in Blue tracksuits smashing up a Lamborghini Gallardo . The sub-title was: Unhappy with Lamborghini’s customer service . Chinese owner hires sledgehammer assassins to destroy his gallardo in protest. What an idiot of a guy!

Off We Go At Last

BloggiE’s First Post…

On Saturday we started our great Aussie holiday. We took a whole two weeks to pack!

Hard work eh Dad?

All ready to set off.. complete with home made drawers

After Mum and Dad had packed everything and taken us to the doctor, we set off and Andrew filmed us! We traveled and traveled until we arrived at Tea Gardens! We stayed at our grandparents’ house and we slept in the room that my parents used to sleep in when they went there. We saw some lovely sunset views over the Hunter River and Kurri Kurri.

Zoo on Two Wheels

We chose Dubbo for our trial run - to see some more of our own home state, to visit the zoo, ride bikes and come home quickly if it all went pear-shaped.
We chose Dubbo for our trial run – to see some more of our own home state, to visit the zoo, ride bikes and come home quickly if it all went pear-shaped.

But we loved it! The sunshine helped. The animals were in wide open spaces and we could ride around to see them.

It was an 18k day and with the help of strategic ice cream stops, everyone made it back to the camper - despite a few punctures.

There was plenty of netball on the camp courts and plenty of cold nights, tucked up in our cosy camper.

Towin’ the Trailer..

Towin' the Trailer

Cranking it up ...

All set for the night...

We picked up the trailer on the weekend from Coolangatta. We’ve named it “Jake”. It was a 2000km adventure away from work and school, and worth every minute in that car to sleep overnight in our new soon-to-be home. It’s big and white and pops out to sleep in. No reverse parking was attempted – but plenty of imagining how it will be when July comes around.
